The HP Meta List

About Recent Entries

I have an idea for this community Mar. 22nd, 2004 @ 09:42 pm
ze_dragon
I started this community to encourage peole to write more essays and meta on the Harry Potter universe and their fanfiction. My initial idea didn't work, but I have hatched a new plan.

An Essay/Meta Fest

So I'll resurrect all those topics, and I'll run a new drive for more, and I'll figure out a new set of rules and a time table and all that jazz. If it sounds like a good idea that is. What do you all think?

Posting Day #

A collection of links for all the meta/essays that have been posted in response for the first topic, Hermione Granger.

Note: If you are not a member but still wrote an essay/meta for this week's topic please leave a link pointing to the entry in the comments. Thank you. I will add it to the list as soon as I see it.

Note 2: Real Life reared its very ugly head this past weekend. I have a broken hand and lots of doctor/therapy appointments in the near future. I will keep this up, but I might be running late (like today). If I miss your essay, just let me know. I will get it up, just a little slower.

Also, if you have to reach me you can do so at dragon @ dragonlight.slashcity.org

Happy Writing!

Note: There was no "Posting Day" post this week since I have changed the rules a bit. The deadline for essays/meta on the topic has been extended by a week. Posting will begin at at 12 midnight EST (0500 GMT) on 16 Feb, 2004. You have forty-eight hours to post.

As an addendum. I don't mind adding links to the posts, so if you've written on one of the old topics, please post the link in comments to the appropriate post. However, these won't be announced.
» Community Announcement: Please Read and Vote
All right, I've been thinking about how best to get this community working. I was going to post this earlier this week, but I thought it might be best to figure everything out, the details and offer up a poll; I'll get more responses that way.

I'm thinking a week might be a little tight for most people to write an essay that they're happy with. So, I've revamped things a bit.

As usual every Tuesday a topic will come out, and instead of a single week to write on it, we'll have two weeks. There will be a week overlap of topics though. That way there will still be post every week with links (hopefully) and will give people more time to fit in their essay writing time.

Also, due to some confusion for which I'm entirely to blame, I've decided to make a 48 hour window for posting your responses. Posting starts on Monday EST and ends Wednesday EST. If you are confused about this, please contact me and I will explain.

If I ever miss your entry, either because it's friends-locked and you don't have me listed as such, or I just didn't see it when scanning the members pages, or you are just posting sporadically, then just leave the link in the appropriate links post. (Any other post will do as well if you are pressed for time, but please tell me which topic it is for.)
